22 Jul 2008 - Court Tosses FCC 'Wardrobe Malfunction' Fine According to an article published on billboard.com a federal appeals court threw out a $550,000 indecency fine against CBS Corp. for the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show that ended with Janet Jackson's breast-baring "wardrobe malfunction."
The three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Federal Communications Commission "acted arbitrarily and capriciously" in issuing the fine for the fleeting image of nudity.
The 90 million people watching the Super Bowl, many of them children, heard Justin Timberlake sing, "Gonna have you naked by the end of this song," as he reached for Jackson's bustier.
The court found that the FCC deviated from its nearly 30-year practice of fining indecent broadcast programming only when it was so "pervasive as to amount to 'shock treatment' for the audience."
"Like any agency, the FCC may change its policies without judicial second-guessing," the court said. "But it cannot change a well-established course of action without supplying notice of and a reasoned explanation for its policy departure."

17 Jul 2008 - Online Audition - Submit your Videos Janet has partnered with DanceJam to host online auditions for her upcoming reality show. Janet and her longtime choreographer Gil Duldulao will be looking for singers and dancers to submit their audition videos on the site.

16 Jul 2008 - America's Best Dance Crew Janet's music will be featured on Thursday's broadcast of "Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew," airing at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
According to Billboard.com, the dance crews must choreograph moves to songs from Janet's discography, including "Control," "Nasty," "If," "All Nite (Don't Stop)," "I Get Lonely," and "Black Cat." In addition, all crews will perform their combined efforts in dancing to Janet's "Rhythm Nation."
In its first season, the show did a similar tribute to Michael Jackson.
15 Jul 2008 - New Tour Date Added For Rock Witchu Tour ticketmaster.com and livenation.com have just added an additional tour date for the highly anticipated Rock Witchu Tour. Janet will be performing in Uncasville, CT at the Mohegan Sun Arena on 11th of October 2008. Tickets will go on sale to the general public 19th of July 2008 10:00 am EDT.

11 Jul 2008 - Mel B Admits There Is No Janet Jackson Duet showbizspy.com has posted a report on which Mel B finally admits that she lied about collaborating with Janet on her new album.
Former SPICE GIRL MELANIE BROWN has been forced to deny reports she is working on new tracks with superstars JANET JACKSON and MISSY ELLIOTT -just weeks after boasting about the collaboration.
Last month (Jun08), the Los Angeles-based singer told a British publication she is preparing to relaunch her solo career with help from some very influential friends.
She said: "I am doing something with Janet Jackson which should be amazing. I am also going to hook up with Missy again."
But Brown has now backtracked over the comments, saying: "There's no truth in that."

The Gaultier Fall/Winter Haute Couture fashion show was part of the Paris Fashion Week '09 Haute Couture 2009.

26 Jun 2008 - Janet's tour tickets selling very well Tour de force could help Janet Jackson flog 'Discipline'
Madonna's ticket sales may have gotten off to a slow start, but Janet Jackson's are doing fine, claims Live Nation, their concert-tour company.
Jackson is hitting the road to promote her latest CD, "Discipline," which has moved just 392,000 copies. Even with changes in the music biz, that's less than half what it should have sold. In a further bid to keep her name in the headlines, the pop star has announced plans to star in a reality show.
Jackson blames the album's poor showing on her new label, Island Def Jam, where she fled with boyfriend Jermaine Dupri after leaving Virgin when her CD "20 Y.O." tanked. The breast-bearing singer says that Island isn't promoting the CD - her first without producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
Could it be the reviews? Giving "Discipline" a grade of C- in Entertainment Weekly, Margeaux Wilson called Jackson's X-rated lyrics "creepy" and tells her, at age 41, to "drop the nympho shtick instead of competing with the Beyoncés and Rihannas." A source told us that when label bigs heard the album, they did decide to promote ... Mariah Carey.
But hopes are still high for Jackson's tour at Live Nation, where the chairman shoeleathered last week after criticism that he was paying stars too much for the return. She's a tour record-breaker, having grossed more than $100 million in her career.
So why is Jackson apparently selling well while only half of the seats at Madonna's L.A. show have been sold? Her tickets are cheaper than Madonna's, ranging from $46 to $126 at the Izod Center in New Jersey, for example, where Jackson performs Oct. 17. And unlike Madonna, who almost always favors her new material in shows, Jackson is willing to do the fan-favorite hits.
"We're very happy with the ticket sales," said a Live Nation spokesman. "She hasn't complained about us. Thank God."

24 Jun 2008 - Janet called L.A. Radio station 102.7 KIIS FM Janet surprisingly called into Ryan Seacrests morning show yesterday. She revealed that the reality show that she is creating with MTV is to be called "Triple Threat" and that the winner would get a deal in film, television and music. "It is a nice way for me to give back all that I have been given and help others as well", Janet said.
When asked about Jermaine and her looking to have babies after the tour Janet seemed quiet surprised and replied "That's what he said? Well, I guess HE is ready".
Janet also gave away that she currently has a set list of 45 songs for the tour. "From Control on or even earlier", Janet said, " but we still need to work on cutting titles down."

24 Jun 2008 - Jermaine and Janet ready for baby? According to an article released on PEOPLE.com Jermaine Dupri says that Janet and him are ready for a baby.
"Yeah, soon," Dupri told PEOPLE Sunday at a dinner party hosted by New Era and Belvedere Vodka at West Hollywood's STK restaurant. "Right after the tour."
The producer – who has a daughter, Shaniah, from a previous relationship – is so excited to start a family with Jackson, he doesn't even care if it's a boy or a girl.
"It really doesn't matter," he explained at the event honoring rapper Nelly. "Janet would be a great mom. She was around so many brothers and sisters all her life, so she's got to know what that is [like]. And her mom is a great mother."
According to Dupri, Jackson is also a great companion. "The greatest thing in life is just to have a friend," he said. "When I have problems in life, I share them with her. When she has a problem, she comes to me."
